Location: Pleasanton, CA (100% Onsite - local candidates only)
Duration: 1-Year Contract (Possible Extensions)
Rate: $35 – $42/hr (W2)
Benefits: 401(k) with 4% company match
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Overtime paid at 1.5x for hours over 40)
Position Overview
The Senior Buyer is responsible for purchasing raw materials, sub-assemblies, software, and services in support of New Product Introduction (NPI) and ongoing supply chain activities. This role focuses on cost-effective procurement while maintaining high standards for quality, supplier reliability, and delivery urgency.
The position will support a broad range of procurement activities with a heavy emphasis on software Statements of Work (SOWs) and licensing purchase orders, in addition to traditional direct and indirect purchasing responsibilities. The role operates under general supervision and requires sound judgment, strong vendor interaction, and attention to detail in a fast-paced, onsite environment.
Key Responsibilities
Purchase raw materials, sub-assemblies, products, services, and software in accordance with approved purchase orders
Support NPI projects through PO development, tracking, and supplier coordination
Manage and support software SOWs and licensing purchase orders
Evaluate supplier quotes, pricing, lead times, and service levels
Conduct vendor negotiations and support cost reduction initiatives
Expedite orders to meet production, project, or business needs
Maintain strong supplier relationships and perform vendor analysis
Utilize procurement systems to create, track, and manage purchase orders
Resolve invoice discrepancies and support supplier issue resolution
Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Supply Chain, Engineering, IT, and Project teams
Ensure procurement activities align with company policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma required
2–5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain roles
Experience purchasing materials, services, and/or software
Familiarity with standard purchasing concepts, practices, and procedures
Ability to evaluate vendor quotes and make cost-effective sourcing decisions
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to work under general supervision and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience supporting NPI or project-based procurement activities
Experience with software SOWs, licensing agreements, or IT-related purchasing
ERP or purchasing system experience
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
