Position Summary:
We are seeking a Scrum Master to support a cross-functional software development team working in a hybrid Agile/Waterfall environment. The ideal candidate is not only fluent in Scrum practices but also values flexibility, servant leadership, and high emotional intelligence. You’ll serve as a connector between team members and stakeholders, improving delivery outcomes through trust, experimentation, and action—not by strictly enforcing Agile dogma.
This fully remote role is ideal for someone who thrives in regulated industries such as medical devices, finance, transportation, or aerospace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate Scrum ceremonies and guide the team in Agile best practices, adapted to the organization’s needs.
- Foster team accountability, transparency, and alignment to strategic objectives.
- Translate strategic goals into tactical actions and remove impediments to progress.
- Coach team members and stakeholders on Agile mindset and behaviors—without being dogmatic.
- Support team dynamics, interpersonal communication, and collaboration.
- Identify improvement opportunities and initiate small, actionable changes that deliver value.
- Communicate clearly and concisely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Serve as a trusted bridge between engineering, product, and external functions.
- Document discussions, decisions, and outcomes to maintain shared understanding.
Hard Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience as a Scrum Master in a software development environment.
- Previous hands-on experience in software development or project management.
- Experience working in highly regulated environments (e.g. medical, finance, aerospace).
- Strong communication skills and emotional intelligence (EQ)—able to influence, guide, and de-escalate.
- Proven ability to connect tactical team-level actions to strategic business goals.
- Scrum Master or Agile-related certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or related field—or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background as a Project Manager or Software Developer
- Experience delivering software in a regulated environment (e.g., FDA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, etc.)
- Familiarity with hybrid delivery models (Agile + Waterfall coexistence)
- High comfort with ambiguity and iterative experimentation
- Strong writing and facilitation skills
What Success Looks Like in This Role:
- Facilitates with clarity, energy, and focus—tailoring communication to diverse audiences.
- Takes extreme ownership of the team’s delivery environment—proactively identifying and addressing blockers.
- Builds strong working relationships with team members and adjacent stakeholders.
- Fosters a safe environment for feedback, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
- Drives outcomes—not just Agile rituals—by staying focused on value, learning, and delivery.
