Remote: Yes, but need to be be able to support the team onsite - Prefer candidates in Chicago or Northwest Indiana
Period: 04/01/25 – 12/31/25 (with possibility of extension)
Hours/Week: 40 hours
Rate: $110/hour
Contract Type: W-2 only, no visa sponsorships or subcontracting


Scope of Services:

The Change Lead will play a key role in driving change management activities for our client’s Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Program. This role will focus on ensuring a smooth transition for employees and stakeholders as new metering technologies and systems are implemented. The Change Lead will execute communication and engagement strategies, assess change impacts, and support training efforts to maximize adoption and minimize resistance.

The AMI program consists of two major changes:

  1. Remote Meter Connectivity – Implementation of meters that can be remotely connected and disconnected.
  2. New Meter Data Management System (MDMS) – Deployment of a new system to manage AMI data, with potential go-live in early 2026.

This role will execute and enhance existing change management strategies for the first initiative while developing a comprehensive approach for the second.


Role, Responsibilities & Deliverables:

Change 1: Remote Meter Connectivity

  • Execute on the existing Engagement & Communication Plan to support change adoption.
  • Develop engagement materials, including: 
    • One-pagers
    • Demonstrations (PowerPoint or other formats)
    • Coordination with the internal communications team for video creation
  • Create and distribute communications in alignment with the plan.

Change 2: New Meter Data Management System (MDMS)

  • Conduct a Change Impact Assessment to identify key areas of impact for employees and stakeholders.
  • Develop a new Engagement & Communication Plan and integrate it into the broader AMI communication strategy.
  • Execute engagement and communication activities to ensure awareness and alignment.
  • Identify training needs in collaboration with workstream leads.
  • Develop a Training Plan to support employee readiness.
  • Support the creation of training materials (e.g., job aids, presentations) as needed.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years of change management experience, preferably in utilities, energy, or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience leading change for technology-driven transformations (e.g., system implementations, automation).
  • Proven ability to develop and execute communication & engagement strategies.
  • Strong skills in change impact analysis and stakeholder management.
  • Experience supporting training program development and content creation.
  • Ability to collaborate across business, technical, and operations teams.
  • Familiarity with organizational change management (OCM) methodologies such as Prosci, ADKAR, or Kotter’s Change Model.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex changes into clear, engaging messaging.


Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Change, Communications, Business, HR, or a related field.
  • Change management certification (Prosci, CCMP, or similar) preferred.
