Location: Remote
Period: 11/15/2024 to 06/30/2025 – potential for extension/direct hire
Hours/Week: 20 – 30 hours
Rate: $40 – $50/hour
Contract Type: W-2 only

 
Scope of Services:

The Medical Writer II will be responsible for preparing technical documents to support domestic clinical studies and authoring scientific publications. This role requires a strong understanding of data outputs, data repositories, and document authoring. The successful candidate will transform graphical data into comprehensive summaries using templates and standardized formats. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Word and PowerPoint, is essential. Experience in cardiology is a plus, but applicants must have 2–3 years of experience in life sciences, medical devices, or pharmaceuticals, with a solid understanding of regulatory reporting and data visualization.

 
Role, Responsibilities, and Deliverables:

  • Prepare technical documents to support both domestic and international clinical studies.
  • Author annual progress reports on clinical trials and studies in Client Structural Heart’s transcatheter edge-to-edge repair portfolio.
  • Collaborate with clinical and biometrics to ensure proper content is included in documents.
  • Incorporate statistical outputs, text, graphs, charts, and tables into clinical reports or publication projects with high attention to detail in a clear and accurate manner.
  • Construct and draft publication projects (abstracts, presentations, manuscripts) for peer-review submissions.
  • Review and proofread all types of materials for accuracy, consistency, and clarity.
  • Review, circulate, edit, assemble, and inspect submissions.
  • Communicate deliverables needed and writing process to team members.
  • Utilize templates and format/style guidelines necessary for document type.

 
Experience:

  • 1-3+ years of experience as a medical or technical writer (publications or regulatory).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant technical discipline, including biology, engineering, physiology, data science, statistics, or similar.
  • Master’s degree preferred. Also open to PhDs provided they meet the requirements.

 
Skills:

  • Biomedical, sciences, medicine or similar health related discipline preferred
  • Exceptional writing and proofreading skills, experience with AMA Manual of Style.
  • Experience with collaborative, cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to manage complex tasks and manage time effectively
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.  Experience working within a Matrix Organization and Cross-Functional Teams
  • Project Management experience where they owned their own projects and supported multiple technical projects
  • MS Excel - Intermediate Level as they will leverage this as a tool to manage projects, data extracting, and screening, Word, and Technical Knowledge
  • Citation Management Systems experience - they use Endnote but can come with other systems knowledge and experience and will train on theirs. 
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail
  • Multitasks, prioritizes, and meets deadlines in a timely manner.
