Job Title: Technical Writer II
Location: St Paul, MN – onsite – local candidates only
Period: 09/16/2024 to 09/08/2025 – potential for extension
Hours/Week: 40 hours (Hours over 40 will be paid at Time and a Half) 
Rate: $35 – $38/hour
Contract Type: W-2, temp to perm potential

 
Scope of Services:

The Technical Writer writes a variety of technical articles, reports, brochures, and/or manuals for documentation for a wide range of uses. May be responsible for coordinating the display of graphics and the production of the document. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

 
Role, Responsibilities, and Deliverables:

  • Reviews, copyedits, and updates documents using templates as a guide
  • Performs change management for software documentation
  • Tracks and reports on information for multiple projects and documents
  • Works closely with engineers, managers, and authors to prepare, review, and adjudicate feedback
  • Develops, maintains, and expands teams’ knowledge base website with the goal of unifying disparate and ancillary team websites
  • Helps create and manage requirements style guide and team workflows
  • Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that allow for easy data migration
  • Develop content for maximum usability, with a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation
  • Coordinates, schedules, and reports on technical reviews
  • Maintains libraries effectively with a keen eye for organization


Experience:

  • May require a bachelor’s degree or 2-4 years of related experience.
  • Previous experience in technical writing, preferably in a corporate or technical environment.
  • Proficiency in writing and editing technical content for various documentation materials.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in technical writing.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to adhere to established guidelines and standards.
  • Creativity and adaptability to plan and organize content effectively to meet project goals.
  • Certificate in Technical Writing from STC or university
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Firm understanding of the systems development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Database management experience
  • Familiar with SharePoint, Confluence, JIRA or more generically, document libraries and issue tracking systems
