Hours/Week: 40 hours (Hours over 40 will be paid at Time and a Half)
Rate: $30-$35/hour
Contract Type: W-2 only

 
Scope of Services:
The Statistical Analyst II will leverage their expertise in statistical methodologies and programming to support Nutrition Research projects. This role involves the application of advanced statistical techniques to analyze clinical trial and observational research data. The successful candidate will be proficient in statistical software such as SAS, R, and Python, and will be responsible for presenting analytical results to non-statistical audiences including nutrition scientists, medical professionals, and clinical research staff. Effective communication through visualization tools, apps, and dashboards is essential, along with the ability to write comprehensive reports detailing research findings.

 
Role, Responsibilities, and Deliverables:

  • Apply advanced statistical methods including analysis of variance, logistic regression, and causal analysis to clinical and observational data.
  • Utilize SAS, R, and Python for data manipulation, analysis, and visualization. This includes writing and optimizing code, and implementing statistical models.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, visual reports, and applications using tools such as Tableau or Power BI to communicate complex data insights.
  • Prepare detailed written reports that describe research methodologies, statistical analyses, and results, ensuring clarity and accuracy for diverse audiences.
  • Work closely with nutrition scientists, medical professionals, and clinical research staff to understand research goals, discuss findings, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Perform data wrangling and mining to clean, organize, and prepare large datasets for analysis.
  • Develop and validate predictive models to forecast outcomes and support decision-making in nutrition research.
  • Implement web scraping techniques to gather relevant data from external sources to enhance research datasets.
  • Ensure all data handling and analysis processes comply with relevant regulatory and ethical standards.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior analysts and team members on statistical methods and software usage.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in statistical analysis and programming tools to continually enhance research quality and efficiency.

 
Experience & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Statistics with at least 3 years of experience OR Master’s degree in Statistics with at least 1 year of experience OR PhD in Statistics or related field with no prior experience
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in R (e.g., Tidyverse, Ggplot2, Shiny), SAS (e.g., Macros, Data Steps, Proc SQL), and Python (e.g., Pandas, Matplotlib, Numpy). Experience with Github for version control.
  • Data Management: Experience with MS SQL Server, data visualization, and comfortable working with large datasets.
  • Visualization Tools: Proficient in Tableau or Power BI for creating interactive and insightful visual reports.
  • Technical Skills: Data wrangling, data mining, web scraping, and predictive modeling.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting complex data and statistical results to non-statistical audiences in an organized and coherent manner.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
